1. Gong Bao Chicken



This is a famous dish that is cooked in the Sichuan-style, and this dish is very popular amongst the Chinese cuisine. The traditional way to cook Chinese food is to use diced chicken, dried chili, and fried peanuts. The dish is so much popular that the people from the western countries have made their own similar style of this Asian food. In this recipe, the chicken is covered with the corn-starch, vegetables along with the sweet and sour sauce. In the end, to add more flavour, mashed garlic is added to the dish.

2. Yam Bone Soup


Amongst the popular Chinese cuisine is a soup called yam bone soup. It is a very delicious soup that is made from the Chinese yams and pork stew. The stew is made by boiling the parts of pork in a big pot and after slow cooking for about some hours, yams, scallion, and ginger along with dates are added to bring out the great flavour inside it. This food is a great additional dish with shredded potatoes.

3.  Ma Po tofu


This Chinese dish is very old but still, it is regarded as one of the best dishes in the Chuan Cuisine. The word Ma which means pockmarks and Po means an old woman. Hence, Ma Po tofu means a dish made by an old woman whose face was pockmarked. Its spicy and hot flavour comes from the pepper powder, a very important spice used in the Chuan cuisine. The other version of the Ma Po Tofu, the milky Tofu, is filled with brownish grounded beef and sliced green onion.

4. Wontons


In winter season, the Chinese people eat a lot of Wontons, an authentic Chinese food. It has become a custom to eat this dish from the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The most used shape of a simple Wonton is a triangle, which is similar to the Italian tortellini. This food is commonly served in simmering hot and boiled soup with some minced pork and finely chopped shrimp.

5. Dumplings


It is said that the origin of this dish was 1800 years ago, dumplings are one of the very old traditional Chinese food that you can mainly see in the northern parts of China. Dumplings are made of stuffed minced meat along with chopped and cooked vegetables in a thin dough skin. It is one of the best Chinese food recipes with chicken. The filling stuffed inside is the reason that makes dumplings special. Some of the great fillings are minced pork, diced shrimp, chopped chicken, beef and finally vegetables. They can be boiled, steamed or fried.

6. Chow Mein

The Cantonese pronunciation of the Chinese food Chow Mein, means stir-fried noodles. The general items that are used in the dish are vegetables, meat (ranging from chicken, beef, shrimp or pork) along with onion and celery. For making this great dish, you need to boil the noodles in hot water for some time. After they become cool, you can fry those along with the other ingredients.

7. Roasted Duck



This famous dish hails from Beijing, very renowned for its great taste and also is one of the national dishes of China. Peking duck or the roasted duck is usually loved for its crispy and thin skin. The roasted duck slices are often eaten along with pancakes and with some sweet bean sauce, soy sauce or with mashed garlic.

8. Spring Rolls



Spring rolls are a Cantonese dim sum dish of cylindrical shape, there is a lot of variety for fillings in this dish, some of which are diced meat with pork or chicken or even vegetables. It can be either of sweet or savory taste. After the fillings are wrapped in the spring rolls, you need to fry them. And after they are turned into golden yellow colour, you can serve them hot along with sliced onions.

9. Sweet and Sour Pork


The sweet and sour pork has a bright orange distinctive colour with a delicious sweet and sour taste. The original flavour of the dish was sweet and sour but lots of developments have been made into the dish. Pork can also be substituted with other ingredients such as chicken, pork ribs etc.

10. BBQ Pork Filled Buns


Baozi is a very popular snack item that you can find in most of the streets in the city of Shanghai. But, rather than looking for the regular buns, you can go for the BBQ BUNS. It is very delicious in taste, and the bun is filled with cooked and sticky sweet and sour BBQ sauce.
